Pumpkinpatch

Pumpkin Lee at Journeymen Saddlers in downtown Middleburg has done the tack repair work for equestrians--many of them Olympians--for over 30 years.  Pumpkin, huh?  So I ask her given name.

"Dorothy."  She says she goes by Pumpkin, Dot, or Dottie.  But doesn't like to be called Dorothy.

"I was an only child," she explains.  "The only pumpkin in the patch."

Her dad's nickname was Peaches.

"He lived to be 96 and took the name with him to the grave."
